More than 30 students from ESNE's Degree in Product Design have been working for the last few months on a project with Pilma, a leading company in design and decoration furniture in Spain.

As a result of a collaboration agreement between the prestigious Catalan brand and the University, these second-year students of ESNE's Degree in Product Design will present the brandwith  a collection inspired by traditional Nordic design and the work of Finn Juhl, Danish architect, industrial and interior designer.

The students began working on this project in October and in February they will present Pilma with a range of pieces for the home consisting of a chair, a dining armchair, a low armchair and an ottoman.

Throughout the whole process, Pilma not only provides the materials so that the students can make the 1:1 scale prototypes, but also its creative director and one of the owners, Ricard López, and its marketing director, Roger Nierga, are accompanying and mentoring the future designers, advising them so that their designs fit in with Pilma's philosophy and manufacturing requirements.

This collaboration project will end with the evaluation of the ESNE Product Design students' prototypes by a panel of Pilma professionals who will decide whether any of them will become part of the firm's collection.

About Pilma

Knowing and disseminating the real concept of design has been Pilma's mission for more than 45 years. Thus, contrary to what some people think, design is not just form, but an idea expressed through aesthetics. In this way, Pilma products have purpose and functionality as their starting point.

With this in mind, Pilma has created its own design culture, supported by 4 shops in Barcelona, some of them finalists in the FAD interior design awards. A vision that prioritises timelessness over trend, sobriety over singularity, simplicity over ornamentation. A quality that serves a purpose, that makes our lives easier, turning design into something accessible and universal.

A little over a year ago they opened a spectacular shop in Madrid on calle Velázquez 23, which reaffirms the brand's style and trajectory by turning its shops into true art galleries where you can acquire contemporary pieces of furniture alongside other iconic pieces.
