Coinciding with World Mental Health Day on 10 October, FEJUVES, the Spanish Federation of Video Game and Esports Players, announces the launch of a free webinar on 10 October at 19:00h on the Fejuves Twitch channel, focused on the mental health of the young population.

According to the IV Youth Barometer 2023, 59.3% of young Spaniards between 15 and 29 years of age recognise that they suffer from mental health problems. Salud y bienestar' carried out by the Mutua Madrileña Foundation and Fad Juventud. This group also presents difficulties in managing their emotions, especially frustration, a key factor in the current environment where personal and professional challenges are intertwined with the massive consumption of digital content.

The webinar will be broadcast on 10 October at 19:00h on https://www.twitch.tv/fejuves and will seek to directly address the emotional difficulties faced by young people, emphasising the importance of proper management of emotions. Through interventions by mental health experts and professionals from the video game industry, strategies for coping with stress and social pressure, factors that directly affect psychological well-being, will be explored.

The Webinar will be presented by Dani Meroño @dani_merono and will include the participation of:

  • Álvaro Fernández (@jugandomejor) - Health Psychologist specialising in video games.
  • Odi (@odiitv) - Streamer.
  • Guillermo Castilla @KastyTP - Professional player for Getafe esports.
  • Oscar 'Wazo' Llano @WaZo_R6 (Graduate in Videogame Design and Development at UDIT, Coach and Esports Analyst)
  • Marta Bueno (@psicoydepor_marta) - Sports and Health Psychologist

"Mental Health is the challenge of the digital generation. In such a competitive and fast-paced world, it is essential to offer resources and tools that help young people to identify and manage emotional situations before they become an insurmountable burden", commented Nacho Chamorro, spokesperson for FEJUVES.

The main reason why young people say they do not seek professional help to alleviate their mental health problems is financial (37.8%). Thanks to the support of entities such as the Móstoles City Council and our sponsors, Telefónica, UDIT Universidad de Diseño, Innovación y Tecnología, Joma and COUGAR Gaming, participants will be able to access this much-needed content free of charge in these times. We would like to thank them for their commitment to mental health and their contribution to make this project possible.

The audience will be able to find in this webinar small but valuable tips on how to prevent and treat any problem related to mental health in the youth environment. The sessions will be geared towards offering practical solutions that can be applied on a daily basis, both for young people and for those seeking to better understand the challenges they face.
