Maruca García, Director of the Fashion Department at UDIT, named Founding Academician of the Spanish Fashion Academy
Maruca García Paredes, Director of the Fashion Department at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has been invited to join the Spanish Fashion Academy, as a Founding Academician, based on her extensive professional career in the sector, as well as her sensitivity to design, know-how and excellence in her work, being a key figure in the promotion and promotion of Spanish fashion.
In this sense, and on the occasion of the creation of the annual Spanish Fashion Academy Awards, Maruca García will be a member of the jury, and will also have the opportunity to propose, endorse and admit the academics who will form part of the Spanish Fashion Academy in future editions.
These awards, in their different categories, recognise the career, professional, creative and technical aspects of all the actors that make up the Spanish fashion ecosystem, thus giving rise to a catalyst and stimulus project in the process of ensuring the future of the sector.
The Spanish Fashion Academy Foundation was created with a vocation for alliance, collaboration and cooperation, both intrasectorial and intersectorial, with its aims based on four strategic axes: the national and international recognition of Spanish fashion, the recovery of designer fashion and traditional crafts, the promotion of sustainability and environmental and social responsibility, and the promotion of digitalisation in creative processes, combining R&D+i+T (research, development, innovation and tradition).
A life dedicated to fashion
With more than 25 years of experience in the world of fashion, Maruca García Paredes is the Director of the Fashion Department at UDIT, which includes the Official University Degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Management and Communication and the Official Master's Degree in Fashion Design.
Maruca holds a Law Degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master's Degree in Advertising, Communication and Corporate Identity from the Camilo José Cela University.
In addition to being the Area Director, Maruca teaches the subject of Industrial Dressmaking in the Degree in Fashion Design and is a specialist in dressmaking techniques, as well as the author of content on the textile sector for several of the Ministry of Education's training cycles.
For years, Maruca García Paredes has run her own design workshop where she creates sewing collections for different national designers and has her own brand of shirts, IKI ESSENTIALS.
