Syllabus

The Syllabus of the Master's Degree in Fashion Design consists of 60 ECTS credits and lasts one year.

Come and visit us

Arrange a visit to our Madrid campus from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 18.00 hours, sign up for the Open Days we hold on Saturdays or the online information sessions.

Take the entrance exam

To assess your academic skills and make sure you are up to the challenge, you will take a placement test.

Formalise your registration

Once you have taken the test and have been informed of your admission to UDIT, you must book your enrolment to guarantee your place for the next course. Places are allocated in strict order of booking.

    You will acquire a new perspective capable of seeing beyond the purely aesthetic, understanding the complex web of factors that intervene and attending to unresolved needs.

  • The Master's Degree lasts 1 year. From October to July, 60 ECTS.

  • This Master's Degree is preferably aimed at graduates in Artistic Education, Graduates in Design of any speciality, Fine Arts, Engineering, Architecture or Technical Architecture who wish to complement their professional profile with this speciality and who feel a special affinity with Fashion and the problems posed by clothing in today's society.

  • If you do not have the necessary prior knowledge for the development of the Master's Degree in Fashion Design, you must take one of the following complementary courses of 6ECTS each.

    1. Fundamentals of design: body and fashion - 6 ECTS

    You will learn to integrate the knowledge related to the fundamentals applied to fashion such as the body, texture and colour. In addition, you will handle the different tools and manual techniques for the graphic representation of the body and fashion.

    Finally, you will be able to graphically express the concept of a garment or collection so that it can be developed and shared with the different agents in the logistics chain of the fashion industry.

    2. Pattern making and tailoring - 6 ECTS

    You will handle the different tools and manual techniques of pattern making and tailoring in fashion design. Develop and/or model a pattern based on body measurements and the design of a garment. Develop a prototype or toile base to validate the viability and manufacture the design of a garment.

    After assessing the candidate, the director of the Master's Degree will recommend the need to take these complementary courses.

  • Fashion and the textile sector represent 2.8% of total GDP and 4.3% of employment in Spain. This demonstrates the wide presence of fashion in Spain, both in terms of wealth and employment opportunities.

    Moreover, for more than 20 years, the large Spanish textile firms have played an important role in the global fashion industry and continue to grow. To this we can add the new opportunities that the sector is exploring and which will generate even more jobs, such as all the potential of new applied technologies such as smart fabrics, customisation by home printing, connectivity of accessories, etc. Together with the unstoppable growth of e-commerce in fashion and online marketing, this sector has a great potential for growth and great job opportunities.

  • Yes, this Master can be subsidised by FUNDAE. Check with our admissions department for all the details. FUNDAE is a public company that manages the funds destined to the training programmed by the companies that will be able to make effective by means of bonuses in their contributions to the Social Security. They promote access, by means of subsidies, to free, quality training for all workers.

  • In the Master in Fashion Design you will have the opportunity to carry out several projects, we give you the example of Pablo Liñán, alumni of the Master in Fashion Design at UDIT, in which he tells us about his experience making his collection "Paisajes de la Sed" for his Master's Thesis.
