2025, a year of awards and acknowledgements for the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area at UDIT
Students from the different degree programmes have been successful in national and international competitions such as the Young Ones Awards, the Pentawards or the LAUS Awards.
The year 2025 has been a period of success and triumphs for the students of the different degrees and master's degrees that make up the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology .
Twelve months in which they have seen their talent and work recognised, both nationally and internationally, in prestigious competitions such as the Young Ones Awards, the LAUS Awards, the Pentawards and even the National Design Awards in Mexico.
An unforgettable year for Daniel Alcolea
Daniel Alcolea, alumni of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, has been one of the main names of 2025, thanks to his project Paramera, a variable typeface designed with the aim of restoring the visual identity of Molina de Aragón, the least populated region in Europe.
With this typeface, Daniel Alcolea has won at the Young Ones Awards, the LAUS Awards, GaudeamusPROJECTA and Selekted Bilbao. A work that, in addition to sending a very powerful message about heritage conservation and depopulation, is allowing him to travel an enriching and exciting path .
The young designer has also won an award at the prestigious Pentawards with his project Cabezonas, a new line of special beers that embodies a character almost as daring as that of the local people.
UDIT's talent shines at the LAUS Awards
The work of UDIT students was recognised up to 8 times at the 55th edition of the LAUS Awards .
Claudia Buezas and Leonor González, students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, were each awarded a Silver LAUS for their works 'Desapercebut' and 'Walk Away', respectively. Meanwhile, Ángela Urcelay, a student of the Degree in Advertising and Brand Creation, won a Bronze LAUS for 'Green bRRRands', a success replicated by student David Otero, who was awarded for 'Solo Postres'.
Durex+', the work of the group formed by Mónica González, Irene Pando, Almudena Redondo and Antonio Sánchez, and 'El Principito', by the duo formed by Luis Cházaro and Raquel Gago, all of them students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, received In Book awards.Likewise, 'Paramera', by Daniel Alcolea, and 'Minority', by Alonso Santamaría, both students of the aforementioned degree, also received In Bookawards.
Reimagining the Puerta de Alcalá
Paulina Abelló Jiménez, Carla Kaubish and David Valeiro, all students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, were the winners of the competition organised by Madrid City Council and the University itself with the aim of designing a creative inspired by the Puerta de Alcalá.
Paulina Abelló Jiménez's proposal, in which she fuses typography and photography, conveys an aesthetic with subtle references to the modernist style. For her part, Carla Kaubish Granados created two complementary pieces in which she combines minimalist photography, inspired by the Dogma style, with typography that flows through the Puerta de Alcalá. Finally, David Valeiro Sanjurjo opted for a vibrant and colourful proposal, evoking the Madrid figuration of the 1980s.
Many more triumphs
Many students have completed the list of successes of the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area of the University throughout the year.Starting with Arturo Rolando Estrada, alumni of the Master's in Graphic Design, who won Mexico's National Design Award in the Logo category with SōZō, a logo designed for a photography and video production company, which fuses the elegance and minimalism typical of Japanese culture.
In turn, Xiang Soto Reznak, a student of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, won the ANFACO Design Award for her packaging proposal for the canned food campaign Cata la Lata.
Likewise, Adriana Baena and Rubén Serrano, both students of the aforementioned degree, won first prizes in #VersionaThyssen, with their reinterpretations of Vincent Van Gogh's The Peasants Eating Potatoes and Caravaggio's Saint Catherine of Alexandria.Carmen Fernández and Lyzeth Reyna, students on the Audiovisual Design and Illustration Degree, were awarded second prizes for their versions of Thomas Lawrence's Portrait of David Lyon and Caspar David Friedrich'sEaster Morning.
The work of María Paula Barrantes, Design of an Exhibition - Filip Custic, the design and layout of the exhibition catalogue "pq hacemos lo q hacemos", by Filip Custic, as well as the visual identity applied to the room and its graphic elements, was selected as the winner in the New Talents category of Selekted Bilbao 2025.
In addition, Lara Alba was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Hiiibrand Awards, in the Student-Packaging category, with her work Bardo; while 16 students from the area were selected to represent the university in the international D&Ad New Blood Awards competition.
Finally, Elisaveta Kumanova, a student of the Multimedia and Graphic Design Degree, was the winner of the photography competition organised by the University to coincide with the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science; and Alejandra Cala (Master's Degree in Illustration) won the 8M Poster Competition .
In short, a year full of awards, recognitions and successes that reflect the excellence that is part of UDIT's DNA .
