More than 8,000 online references and 1,000 physical samples: this is the new UDIT Materioteca.
After a long history of collaboration between the two institutions, UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology takes over the baton from Materially, continuing the management of its material library with the aim of promoting its use as a tool for knowledge and dissemination of great differentiating value in the Design process.
UDIT identifies technologies in materials and manufacturing processes as a key vector of innovation, being one of the differentiating elements in the Design process. Therefore, having a material library such as the one developed by Materially, the result of years of extensive technological surveillance work, will provide great value in terms of knowledge and opportunities for new projects linked to materials technologies and manufacturing processes for the University.
The material library consists of a digital platform with more than 8,000 international references and around 1,000 physical samples. Its vocation is to serve the academic and research community and to become a meeting point for professionals and companies that have innovation in materials at the centre of their strategy.
It is therefore a key tool in the transfer of technology and knowledge in disciplines as varied as Product Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Architecture, among others.
In this way, UDIT is positioned as an academic institution specialising in the forefront of innovative and sustainable materials, with the perspective of their application to Design.
The materials that today make up the material library have applications in multiple sectors where they provide a differential value such as the automotive industry, medical devices, architecture, interior design or Industry 4.0.
This tool, as well as its management dynamics, enables UDIT to develop projects with a wide range of entities interested in combining the vision of Design with the possibilities offered by new materials: from industry R&D departments to research centres, independent professionals, public entities, etc.
UDIT's material library will provide an excellent platform to give visibility to highly innovative materials and processes generated in an innovation ecosystem and is intended to be a channel to identify and make visible the creative, scientific and technological potential of Spain, with the aim of obtaining better access to the market, paying special attention to opportunities for technology transfer.
