Students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design and the Bachelor in Multimedia and Graphic Design travel to the London Design Festival
The city of London becomes the design capital of the world during the celebration of the London Design Festival, an annual event, conceived by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans in 2003, whose concept is to create an artistic proposal that promotes the creative activity of the city, attracting thinkers, professionals, retailers, entrepreneurs and educators to celebrate design.
Within this framework, the students of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design and the Bachelor in Multimedia and Graphic Design, have had the opportunity to fly to the British city to visit different renowned studios, publishing houses, museums or emblematic places of the city such as Pentagram, MagCulture, Camden Market, The National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum or St. Bride Foundation.
For their part, Juan Carlos Gauli, Director of the Department of Audiovisual and Graphic Creation and Rafael Timón, Coordinator of the Department, accompanied the students throughout their tour of the city of the Thames.
Organised visits to experience the London Design Festival first-hand
The students' schedule of activities in London began with a visit to the British Museum, a monumental building that houses priceless pieces from Roman to Mesopotamian times, including ancient Egypt; Design Museum, Leighton House, The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, Serpentine Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum, completed the agenda of cultural must-sees in the city, which also included leisure spaces such as Camden Town Market, King's Cross, Portobello Road, Borough Market, St. Bride Foundation and Trafalgar Square. They also had the opportunity to visit the branding agency Ragged Edge and the renowned design studio Pentagram, the latter with Jenny Howard, Studio Manager, and Charlotte Harmsworth, Design Team Assistant, who shared their experience and knowledge with them.
Finally, the students were introduced to MagCulture, the leading creative company in the field of magazine creation, by its founder, Jeremy Leslie.
