8 students and 5 teachers of the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology will present their proposal, Textile Cartography, during the 11th edition of the Emerging Design Month.

Cartografía Textil is based on the concept of tradition and takes it to the personal experience of the members of the group, who have compiled ethnographic information from their different regions of origin and have constructed three looks that connect different ideas and imaginaries, as well as elements of costume.

These three looks, which reinterpret and combine the regional costumes of the participants' places of origin, as well as some of their symbols, will be the focus of an exhibition space in which visual memories will also be present, displayed in such a way that the filing cabinet (which will be available for consultation) simulates the gable roof of a home, and a series of modular wooden frames, where the analogue and the digital will coexist.

Some of these frames will display some of the materials used in the making of the designs, while others will have screens through which visitors will be able to discover different animations and 3D modelling of the costumes, generated by the students and teachers themselves.

Thus, an enriching and interesting circular discourse will be generated between the memories, the creative process, the final tangible garments and the digital resources, which are fundamental for the conservation of cultural heritage.

Rodrigo Aragón, Nuria Caterina Bestard, Blanca de Bonrostro, Keyla Cabral, Cristina Gelabert, Lidia Pérez, Laura del Río and Xabier Urquizar, all of them students of the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, together with the teachers José Manuel Arribas, Diana Iglesias, Lara Marín, Laura Saldaña and Victoria Vásquez, have participated in the Textile Cartography project.

11th edition of the Museo del Traje's Emerging Design Month

Emerging Design Month is an exhibition project organised annually by the Museo del Traje, whose main mission is to offer a space for new designers to show their work and proposals in a culturally recognised venue.

This year, the Museo del Traje has organised a national competition, open to all schools and universities, with the Regional Costume Exhibition of 1925 as its theme. UDIT's project has been one of the 6 projects selected to be exhibited during this eleventh edition.
