The Rector of UDIT participates in the Opening Ceremony of the university year 2025-2026 presided over by His Majesty the King.
The University of Valencia has hosted the solemn Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2025-2026 of the Spanish universities, an event of great importance for the national university system that has been chaired by His Majesty King Felipe VI.
The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the historic building of La Nau, within the framework of the 525th anniversary of the Universitat de València, and was attended by leading authorities of the Spanish university system.The ceremony was attended by prominent authorities from the academic and political spheres, including the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, and the Rector of the University of Valencia, Mavi Mestre, who acted as hostess. Eva Alcón, President of CRUE Spanish Universities, also took part in the event.
In her speech, Eva Alcón warned that both higher education institutions and society in general are facing "the greatest of challenges: a reality in which authoritarianism and discourses of fear and hatred are on the rise, with provocations even at the gates of the campuses". In this context, he argued that "we can and must rely on science, innovation and democratic values", which are not only "the best instrument for economic progress and social welfare", but also "to preserve our model of coexistence".
UDIT, the University of Design, Innovation and Technology, was represented at this institutional event by its rector, Juan Cayón, who attended together with other top university leaders from all over the country .
This event, which marks the official start of the new academic year for all Spanish universities, has a symbolic and strategic character, bringing together the main academic institutions at a time of reflection, celebration and future projection.
