Graduated in Interior Design at the ETSAM (School of Architecture of Madrid) Since 2010 Álvaro Valdecantos is working independently and collaborating in team projects with other designers. In 2012 he founded with Irene Bas the experimental collective Lightmade dedicated to experimentation between various disciplines, lighting, photography and interior design. Looking for the links between them. In 2013, also together with Irene Bas and Alberto Barberá and Paolo Portaluri, he co-founded the lighting collective Lupercales with the mission of raising awareness of the use of lighting in urban space and heritage architecture, with a teaching and social character. As an interior designer he has experience in various types of projects such as luxury hotels, restaurants, housing and offices. As a photographer, he specialises in architectural photography and architectural lighting.Since 2103 he has been teaching photography and lighting design workshops at the ETSAM (School of Architecture of Madrid), IED Barcelona and ARTIDI. He currently teaches Ergonomics at IED Barcelona and researches the relationship between the body and learning, training himself in different somatic and stress reduction techniques that he actively applies in his classes. In 2024 he launches his learning platform The Seed on Instagram and his Podcast on education and learning of the same name on Spotify and YouTube .
