During the 2024-2025 academic year, the Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has demonstrated its ability to connect university education with the reality of industry, organising a series of masterclasses led by experts and leading technology companies.

These sessions, held at UDIT's new Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences, have allowed students to learn first-hand about different applications of AI in sectors as diverse as banking, the media, mobile telephony, agriculture and cybersecurity.

Leading experts: from the media to finance

The programme of this series of conferences kicked off last October with a masterclass by Rafael Arce, Head of IT Architecture and Innovation at Unidad Editorial, who analysed the impact that generative artificial intelligence is already having on the media and the challenges this poses for the content creation industry.

The corporate dimension of this technology was the focus of the masterclass by Francisco Javier Rodríguez Fernández, Senior Client Experience and Analytics Manager at KPMG, who explained how artificial intelligence is currently integrated into the daily operations of a Big4 company and how it is improving business efficiency, even among less technical profiles.

Another relevant case was that of Caixabank, represented by Fabián Mauricio Romero Montoya (Computer Vision Engineer) and Gabriel Humanes de la Fuente (Data Scientist), who discussed how the implementation of intelligent algorithms in the technological stack of this financial institution is already having a tangible impact on many of its critical processes, allowing them to develop solutions that generate real value for their customers.

In the field of consumer electronics, Miguel Ángel Gómez, Senior Product & Business Manager at Motorola Mobility, presented to the master's students the vision of a company that is revolutionising the way in which users interact with their smartphones through its intelligent Moto AI platform.

On the other hand, the social and ethical dimension of artificial intelligence played a key role in the presentation by Patricia Ruiz Guevara, coordinator of AI and disinformation at Maldita.es, raising awareness of the dual role of this technology as a tool for propagating or combating disinformation. Her presentation included examples of the use of generative AI in deceptive campaigns and the technologies that the foundation uses for fact-checking.

Robotics, social intelligence and the future of work

In the field of AI applied to physical and autonomous environments, Omar Aït-Salem Duque, CEO of IBTICAE, gave a presentation on the use of unmanned vehicles for the development of smart agriculture, exploring how deep learning can optimise harvesting and work in the field, optimising the agri-food sector.

The technological basis of AI was also the subject of analysis with a masterclass by Mario Alfonso, founder of Alteria Automation, focusing on data quality. Under the title "Data Foundations for AI", he highlighted how poor data management can seriously compromise the performance of intelligent systems. Finally, Fernando Alcázar Santos, Business Developer Manager and AI Lead at HP Spain, explained how companies are adopting artificial intelligence solutions that can redefine the future of work.

In short, this set of masterclasses demonstrates the commitment of UDIT' s Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence to training connected to professional reality and oriented towards innovation. The participation of top-level experts and leading companies reinforces a practical, multidisciplinary academic model in constant dialogue with industry.
