PhD student Elsa Gil Benito, former student of the Master and Degree in Product Design and member of the research group UDIT DESIRe, was invited as a speaker at the Seminar "Is your school G.O.D. Green, Outdoor and Democratic". Her presentation focused on her research on Biomaterials and new digital fabrication techniques as democratic means of education and production.
This seminar, funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme, took place in Amarante, Portugal between 9-15 October and was organised by the leading social impact organisation "Casa de Juventude" (2009). Elsa attended this event through the Vuelo Association.
During one week, teaching professionals were provided with tools, motivation and inspiration to incorporate non-formal academic approaches in their classrooms. The emphasis was on crucial topics such as sustainability, equality and democracy. Participants had the opportunity to visit various public and private organisations implementing innovative pedagogical approaches, inclusive methods and projects with a strong social and environmental impact. Simultaneously, activities designed to promote open communication, participation and immersion took place, as well as debates on current issues related to education, democracy and climate change.
