The term volunteering means "organised solidarity" and that is precisely what has been conveyed by the continuation of the solidarity agreement that ESNE has with the Vallecas Children and Youth Coordinator.
If a few months ago the initiative "Mi Barrio" (My Neighbourhood) concluded - a photography workshop that involved the participation of sixty children and young people from the district of Madrid, together with a group of ESNE student volunteers and the associations that make up the Coordinator - now the collaboration goes a step further with the production of a documentary film.
In total, eight University students from different degrees and courses are collaborating in this project: Carmen Mª Ortega Lázaro, Juana Roizman, Ignacio Lledias del Río, Inés Oliver Iniesta, Alejandro Osset Ojea, María Teresa Rendón Caballero, Valle Blanco García, Sara Zaloña Sanz and Hugo Morán Vicente, contributing with production, direction, script and recording tasks.
The aim of this documentary is to make visible the collaborative and hard-working spirit and the desire to improve of several families from Vallecas, as well as to demystify the stereotypes attributed to this neighbourhood in Madrid. All this will be done through the daily life of nine neighbouring families who have wanted to take part in this project to show the reality of the neighbourhood.
The documentary, which has already presented its 'making of', will be released in February and has the support of the Community of Madrid, INJUVE, as well as funding from the European Union.
