Until 11 July, UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, is hosting Campamento Digital at its Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences Campus, a free educational initiative organised by Fundación Cibervoluntarios.

Throughout this week, around 70 children and teenagers aged between 9 and 17 will participate in an intensive training experience in digital skills, practical and collaborative activities with which they learn to make safe and responsible use of technology, while they create, play and develop other skills such as teamwork.

At the end, all participants receive the official DigComp certificate, which accredits their digital skills according to the European framework, providing a differential value to their academic and professional training.

The activity is part of the CODI programme (Digital Competences for Children), an initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Children financed by Next Generation EU funds, which aims to train 950,000 children throughout Spain, paying special attention to those who are vulnerable or at risk of social exclusion.

Through a participatory methodology, the programme explores topics such as cybersecurity, critical thinking, digital content creation, artificial intelligence and technological entrepreneurship, guided in this field by a team of specialised educators who have adapted the content to different age groups:

  • 9 to 11 years: they focus on developing criteria in the search for information, configuring basic tools such as email, and surfing the Internet while protecting their privacy and respecting others.
  • 12 to 13 years: they reflect on their digital habits, online time management and the importance of not leaving a digital footprint without awareness. They also address issues such as cyberbullying and respect in digital environments.
  • 14 to 17 years old: they learn how to create their CV, explore ideas for entrepreneurship, and discover how to become digital creators through the design of apps, websites or video games, integrating Artificial Intelligence in an ethical and creative way.

In this sense, Campamento Digital not only teaches how to use technology, but also how to understand it and use it as a tool for personal and professional development.

Supporting this type of initiative reflects UDIT's commitment to inclusive, innovative education that is connected to social needs. Promoting access to technology in vulnerable environments is also a way of fostering the development of talent and promoting a more equitable and future-ready society.
