UDIT hosts the great meeting of the Deep Tech industry in Spain: SECPHO Summit 2025
On 25 November, the Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology hosted the SECPHO Summit 2025, the great annual meeting of the deep tech ecosystem in Spain, where science and technology go hand in hand .
The event was inaugurated byPepe Marqués Morán, Dean of the Faculty of Technology at UDIT, who stressed the importance of universities leading spaces where science, business and innovation meet to accelerate knowledge transfer and strengthen the deep tech ecosystem in Spain.Sergio Sáez Blasco, Cluster Manager of SECPHO, highlighted the collaboration of the association with UDIT, with the incorporation of several students of the Master in Artificial Intelligence in their internship programmes.
Under the slogan "Science to market", SECPHO Summit 2025 brought together the main companies, research centres, startups and investors that are developing the technologies that define the future: from photonics and robotics to artificial intelligence, quantum computing, the development of new semiconductors or biomedicine.
As an example of this technological showcase, there was a large showroom where attendees could discover some of the most advanced technology developed in our country, from cameras that see the invisible and latest-generation drones, to medical simulators, smart lasers or structures that bring life back to the sea, all of them with practical demonstrations.
In addition to this demo area, the event also highlighted itsInnovation Spots, a route designed to facilitate entrepreneurship. In this space, the different key points of SECPHO were presented, aimed at accompanying entrepreneurs in each phase of their project: from the Intellectual Property and Innovation Forum, with the participation of Elion IP, Delvy and Ponti & Partners, to the Public Funding Opportunities Centre and the Talent Consultancy, aimed at identifying strategic profiles.
One of the highlights of the day was the launch of the Market Focus, a strategic space in which participants had the opportunity to analyse six key sectors of the technology industry through real challenges posed by Repsol, Thales Alenia Space, Aciturri, Aleatica, Valeo and the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. This session allowed them to connect scientific innovation with immediate market needs, fostering collaboration between companies and researchers.
SECPHO Summit 2025 also included a space dedicated to analysing best practices, co-investment models and the true meaning of betting on deep tech, in a dialogue between SETT, Bullnet Capital and Big Sur Ventures. During this session, the new "Report on deep tech investment in Spain" was also presented, a key document to understand the evolution, challenges and opportunities of the sector.
This was followed by "Driving deep tech entrepreneurship from the institutions", a round table with the participation of CDTI, ENISA, ICEX and EOI, in which specialists such as Nacho Liñán (ENISA), Chema Blasco (ICEX), Fernando Garrido (EOI) and José Moisés Martín (CDTI), moderated by Tino Sánchez (SECPHO), presented the measures, strategies and resources that are accelerating the transfer of scientific knowledge to the market.
Finally, the meeting was also an opportunity to get to know the human stories behind the science: engineers, designers and scientists who, from here, are shaping the future with projects of international scope.
