  • Coordinated by the Genius Research Group of the University, the publication vindicates design and innovation.

The research journal "Gender, Design and Innovation" is a biannual publication coordinated by the Genius Group (Design, Visual Culture and Gender) and edited by UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology.

The first issue of this scientific publication presents a monographic issue dedicated to women designers. It includes articles by Paloma Rodera Martínez, who analyses the technological impact of the designer Iris van Herpen on contemporary fashion , and Eugenia Blázquez Rodríguez, who reflects on the graphic activism of Sheila Levrant de Brettville.

Equally interesting is the research by UDIT Product student Naia Lefèvre Martín on the development of Piñatex, a sustainable biomaterial created by Carmen Hinojosa based on pineapple leaf fibres as a substitute for leather; or the analysis by Carmina López Sánchez and María del Mar Martínez-Oña of the advertising works of the surrealist painter Remedios Varo for the Bayer company.

This first UDIT research journal is aimed at researchers interested in different academic perspectives and reflections, and even proposals from the fields of design and innovation.

GDI aims to become a reference publication in the field of design and innovation, aspiring to establish itself as a meeting point between the academic disciplines that develop around design.
