UDIT becomes a sponsor of the 20th edition of Animayo
UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, will be the official sponsor of the 20th edition of Animayo, the prestigious European summit dedicated to animated film, visual effects and videogames.
Animayo is the first Spanish animation festival to be declared a "Qualifying Festival" by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Hollywood for the Oscars; in this sense, it is the only animation festival in Spain to qualify in two categories for the Oscar shortlist: Best International Animated Short Film and Best Animated Work in Spanish Language "Animación con Ñ".
This new edition of Animayo will be held from 7 to 10 May at the CICCA Cultural Centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where international artists and creators will gather with the aim of transmitting and sharing knowledge through unique and inspiring master classes.
The programme will include, among many other activities, official competition sections, masterclasses, lectures, workshops, panels, forums, debates, presentations, premieres, talent grants, recruitments and competitions.
Travelling animation
The Animayo Festival was born in Spain in 2006 and is directed by the Spanish director and producer Damián Perea. It is a benchmark in the field of animation, with on-site and online formats and itinerant actions or events that travel around several continents, starting in Gran Canaria (the festival's main venue) and passing through Los Angeles, Madrid, Barcelona, Lanzarote, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Brussels, Chicago, Mumbai, Prague, Colombia, Belgrade and Korea.
In addition to different workshops and masterclasses, during the Animayo Festival the films of the official competition sections are screened. Every year, more than 2,000 works of 2D animation, 3D, visual effects, experimental cinema, advertising pieces, animation spots, video clips, video game cinematics and virtual reality are presented.
