On Wednesday 5th March, a delegation from UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, made up of José Luis Olazagoitia, Vice Rector for Research; Karolina Cintrón, Director of Corporate Relations; Alberto Ramos, CoIP of the GUMTS Research Group and María Tamames, Director of TENDAM Lab, visited the AITEX facilities in Alcoy.

During this visit, UDIT representatives had the opportunity to know in depth the different laboratories of AITEX, as well as its advanced technologies and equipment, identifying numerous opportunities to strengthen the strategic collaboration between both institutions in key areas such as the textile sector or the development of innovative materials.

AITEX, a reference centre at the forefront of innovation, research and technological development in Spain and one of the leading centres in Europe, also recognised for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, presented to UDIT's management and technical team its pioneering initiative AITEX Concept Hub for Circularity, providing the technical knowledge acquired over 40 years of experience, together with innovative solutions and experimental tests that underline its commitment to the circular economy and sustainability. In addition, the latest innovations in Smart Textiles were explored, an area that continues to expand and offer new opportunities for the industry.

The visit also served as a framework to open future lines of collaboration between UDIT and AITEX, highlighting the interest of both institutions in establishing joint projects that take advantage of their respective strengths in Research and Innovation, thus promoting the development of new technologies and the strengthening of the textile industrial fabric and new materials, both nationally and internationally, and representing an important step forward in the creation of synergies aimed at promoting innovation and the application of sustainable solutions in the textile sector.

UDIT would like to thank AITEX for its strong commitment to innovation and technology, after a very enriching visit to its modern and state-of-the-art facilities. Special thanks are due to Vicente Blanes, Director of AITEX, Vicente Cambra, Deputy Director of R&D, Elidia Blanes, Director of R&D&I Smart Textiles, Fashion and Interiors, and Carmen Jover, Manager of Design and Fashion Projects.
