Tendam, one of Europe's leading groups in the specialised fashion sector, has created a sustainability laboratory, Tendam Sustainability Lab, in collaboration with UDIT, the first and only Spanish university specialising in Design, Innovation and Technology, and with the support of the consultancy IDavinci, to work on the research and development of the company's R&D&I projects, the transmission of innovation and employee training.

With this new project, the textile company will establish research projects together with teachers and researchers from UDIT, focusing on improving sustainability and circularity. In addition, the Tendam Sustainability Lab will be a hub of knowledge and innovation of reference for the company's employees and also for society, through the dissemination and dissemination of content.

Among its objectives are the expansion of general knowledge on sustainability and design for circularity; the investigation of current practices in the industry on the real implementation of circular design strategies; the promotion of the use of sustainable materials and innovative techniques or the promotion of the adoption of materials with less environmental impact and advanced technologies that improve the efficiency and sustainability of design.

The first training day was held in the UDIT Assembly Hall, where Juan Cayón, Rector of the University, and Maruca García Paredes, Director of the Fashion Department of the academic institution, welcomed the attendees and where UDIT professor and researcher María Tamames gave the first of the training sessions.

For Ignacio Sierra, Corporate General Manager, the Tendam Lab provides us with R&D&I capabilities applied to the reality of our operations, strengthening our resources to be able to anticipate the innovation already placed on the market by our suppliers and put it at the service of our brands and the entire textile ecosystem.

For Juan Cayón, Rector of UDIT, "this innovative project aims to promote research and development in R&D&I, and reinforces UDIT's commitment to the textile sector and sustainability, in direct collaboration with companies. The laboratory has fructified the efforts of the institutional commitment of UDIT and the Vice-rectorate for Research to the textile sector, offering the sector not only training solutions, but also tools that allow it to develop and consolidate its transformation, research and innovation efforts".

With this initiative, Tendam and UDIT demonstrate that collaboration between academia and industry can generate a significant impact on society, as well as boosting innovation in the creative industries.
