Amara Caruncho, UDIT alumni, winner of the Allianz EGO Award 2023
The designer Amara Caruncho, alumni of the Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT, University of Design and Technology, has achieved a new success in the fashion industry by being awarded the Allianz EGO 2023 Award. Amara took over the baton from last year's winner Tíscar Espadas and received this recognition for the exceptional work developed in her fashion brand "Coconutscankill".
The Allianz EGO Award is intended to promote and celebrate emerging young talent in the fashion industry and, each year, this award seeks to identify designers with innovative visions and unique proposals that contribute to the future of fashion design.
This edition, the jury in charge of awarding the prize was composed of Maruca García Paredes, Director of the Fashion Department at UDIT; Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro, founder and Creative Director of Dominnico; Ana Rodríguez, Director of the September 2023 edition of MBFWMadrid and Andrés Aberasturi, curator of the Allianz Ego catwalk.
Sustainability, fusion of styles and inclusion
The "Coconutscankill" brand stands out for its focus on sustainability and inclusivity and its designs are known for fusing contemporary styles with traditional and cultural elements from around the world; furthermore, its commitment to ethical practices and sustainable materials has been a hallmark of its work.
"Winning the award is the ultimate push for my brand and I feel we are at the perfect time and ready for this change. We want to continue researching and expanding our collaboration with artisans for the use of new materials in our creations," said the Galician designer.
This recognition, in addition to an economic endowment, will allow the designer Amara Caruncho's firm to present a collection at the next edition of the Allianz EGO catwalk, as well as professional advice from a lecturer at UDIT, University of Design and Technology, to promote her brand and business project.
