Cruz Delgado awarded the Medal for literary work by the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos (Film Writers' Circle)
The Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos (CEC) has awarded Cruz Delgado Sánchez, professor of the subject History of Animated Film in the Animation Degree at ESNE, the Medal for Literary Work "for his valuable books on the great creators of animated film and for his informative works with numerous references to the presence of film in popular culture".
The awards ceremony was held on 6 February at the Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid, and was presented by the actresses Sandra Cervera and Jelen García.
Cruz Delgado holds a degree in Information Sciences and a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. Since 1981 he has been working in animated film and has collaborated on several feature films and television series such as "Gulliver's Travels", winner of the Silver Elephant at the Calcutta International Film Festival, and "Los Trotamúsicos", winner of a Goya Award in 1990.
He is the author of five books on animation:
- "Tex Avery" (based on his doctoral thesis),
- "Hanna-Barbera, la animación en serie",
- " De Don Quijote a Los Trotamúsicos, los dibujos animados de Cruz Delgado" (about his father's work),
- That's all, friends, the Warnerian animated universe" and "Let 's see who' s up for it!
- "A ver quien se anima!, animated actors, flesh and blood cartoons".
He has also co-written books on subjects outside animation, such as "Chiripitifláutico ¡...es Don José!" and "Paul McCartney, mucho más que un Beatle".
He is a member of the Academia de las Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas, and a member of the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos. In addition to combining his profession with teaching, he is a lecturer, a contributor on film topics for Cadena COPE and directs the monthly podcast "El Cartoonscopio" in which, together with other specialists, he addresses issues related to classic animation.
