Spain's first unmanned aerotaxi, whose interior design has been designed by ESNE students, makes its first flight
Last Wednesday 26 October, the first unmanned air taxi took off from Jaén, a milestone in the world of aeronautics in which ESNE, the University of Design and Technology, has played an important role. This was the testing of this prototype, created by UMILES NEXT and developed by TECNALIA, for which Guillermo Cuellas and Eduardo Rodríguez, graduates in Product Design from ESNE, and Claudia Abrisqueta, Soogyeom Kim and Belén Serrano, current students of the Degree, developed the interior design of the cabin thanks to the collaboration carried out by the two companies together with the University. For this project, the team made up of ESNE Product Design students and alumni was clear that they wanted to create a welcoming interior with an avant-garde touch, "as this is the mobility of the future", explains Guillermo Cuellas. To achieve this, they chose to use sustainable and carefully selected materials that highlight the organic shapes of the air taxi. The unmanned aerotaxi prototype, calledAerotaxi Concept Integrity, has a range of 15 kilometres, has room for one person inside and travels without the need for a pilot. To explain how this first unmanned flight was carried out, the UMILES team paid a visit to the students of the Degree in Product Design on Wednesday 26 October. In this talk they explained how this experience was carried out, what the company's next plans are and reinforced their intention to continue collaborating with the University with the aim of continuing to support the talent and future professional career of the students.
