HUMANA and UDIT reinforce their collaboration focused on textile reuse and sustainability
UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology and Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo have formalised a collaboration agreement with the aim of continuing to promote awareness of textile reuse and sustainability among the University's young fashion students.
The agreement, signed by Rosa Pérez, president of UDIT, and Elisabeth Molnar, CEO of Humana, will strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, which continue to collaborate after developing several academic projects in the Fashion Design and Fashion Management and Communication degrees.
Both institutions began their collaboration in October 2022 with different visits to Humana's textile reuse preparation plant in Leganés. Since then, more than 300 students from UDIT's Fashion area have been able to learn about the Foundation's work and participate in different projects and conferences.
The agreement now signed proposes different lines of work, including the continuity of visits to Humana's textile management facilities, mutual and continued support in the implementation of fashion projects that seek to encourage textile reuse and the promotion of research projects in the educational and industrial fields.
In its more than 37 years of activity, Humana has become one of the main institutions driving textile reuse and the circular economy, adopting a relevant role in the development of the social economy, thus promoting the values of solidarity, environmental awareness, transparency and sustainability.
The fashion and textile sector is going through a crucial moment, thanks to the legislative impulse being given by the European Union and the path towards sustainability taken by the big companies in the sector. Concepts such as eco-design, circularity, traceability, due diligence and sustainable management of resources and waste must therefore continue to be promoted in the academic world.
Hence the importance of the joint work between entities such as UDIT and Humana, in which awareness-raising and the development of greater environmental and social awareness among students and future professionals in the world of fashion are two of its fundamental axes.
