Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport is the sixth airport in Europe by number of passengers. The city is perfectly connected by air with the main European cities (2 hours from Paris, Milan or London, and just over 3 hours from Berlin or Copenhagen) and with the main world destinations.

Thanks to the excellent high-speed rail network, from Madrid you can comfortably visit more than 30 Spanish cities in a very short time. Within the city, the people of Madrid enjoy its extensive metro network, the second largest in Europe.

Accommodation

UDIT is located in the district of Chamartín, a residential neighbourhood, perfectly connected to the city centre by public transport. Near UDIT you will find residences and rooms for rent.

It is advisable to look for accommodation at least 2/3 months in advance, in order to secure a place for the whole academic year.

If for some reason you do not find accommodation, or you decide to look for accommodation once you are here, we suggest you start your search at least 2/3 weeks in advance.

The rents in the cities of the metropolitan area of Madrid are more affordable in terms of price and have the advantage of being very well communicated.

TRANSPORTe

You have many options for getting around the city, from public to private transport.

Ideally, you should get a Youth Travel Pass from the Community of Madrid, for 8 euros per month (if you are under 26 years old) you can use the metro, bus and suburban train throughout the metropolitan area*. *price of the travel pass until 30/06/2023

Another option available to you is the bicycle rental service provided by Madrid City Council. You can use it on a one-off basis or as a monthly subscription.

Madrid has several private companies that rent motorbikes and electric cars (car sharing) to facilitate mobility.

Of course, you can also use taxis or VTC services such as Uber, Cabify or Bolt.

Cost of living in Madrid

The cost of living for a student in Madrid is between €800 and €1,200 per month (depending on the type of accommodation you choose).

Accommodation in a university residence varies depending on the option you choose (more or less centrally located, single or shared room, full board or breakfast only, etc.) but is around 1,000 euros per month.

If you decide to look for accommodation in a shared flat, the price varies depending on the area you choose. In general you can find rooms for between €350 and €600. The area where university students tend to live is Moncloa and Malasaña. Due to their proximity to our University, many students choose Chamartín and Arturo Soria.
