More than 30 students of the Degree in Product Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, have had the opportunity to travel to London, one of the great design capitals of the world, to visit some emblematic museums and studios and connect with their counterparts at Ravensbourne University.

Precisely from the hand of this University, they had the opportunity to carry out a dynamic joint activity. A very valuable exchange between students and teachers from both institutions, who were able to share their way of understanding design, as well as their knowledge and experiences.

A trip full of educational activities

During their stay in London, the students visited Zaha Hadid Architects, where they were able to learn how products are designed from the moment of their conception, the prototyping processes developed in their workshop (large-scale 3D printing, hot wire cutting...) and even talk to the prestigious studio's own designers.

They also toured the David Gill Gallery, which exhibits works by designers such as those they met at Zaha Hadid Architects, and the Roca London Gallery, a building designed by the Iraqi architect herself.

The museums also had an important place on the trip's agenda, starting with the Tate Modern, where they were able to see one of the most important collections of contemporary art, followed by the Victoria & Albert Museum and, of course, the Design Museum, in a visit they made accompanied by Matthew Brown, Director of Product Design at Ravensbourne University.

Exploring London

The students and teachers were also able to stroll through the streets of the English capital, visiting such colourful and characteristic neighbourhoods as Camden Town, one of the must-see places for anyone visiting London for the first time.

They were also able to visit emblematic places of the city such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square or the Westminster district.
