Masterclass by Beatriz Belmonte: Basic Survival Kit for Design in Public Policy

Last Friday 12th April, the Multipurpose Space (Colombia Street building) of the Design and Creative Industries Campus of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, was visited by Beatriz Belmonte, Expert Consulting Manager at NTT DATA.

Organised by the Official University Master's Degree in User Experience for the Design of Digital Products and Services, in this session, Beatriz spoke about the irruption of design and its methodologies in the public sector, mainly through projects related to digital services and new governance models based on participation and transparency.

This session focused on aspects such as improving the context and operations of administrations, going through mental models and regulatory frameworks, to developing clear quality criteria that distinguish good public services from others.

Specialisation in digital service design for the public and private sectors

A public policy design consultant, Beatriz Belmonte has more than 15 years of experience leading digital service design projects for the public and private sector in various industries. She has collaborated in digital transformation projects, govtech innovation labs, research and evaluation of public services implementation.

Beatriz has a background in humanities, information management and applied social research. She completed her training with studies in design at Central Saint Martins, London, and public policy analysis at the London School of Economics and is the founder of Better Public Services, an initiative focused on accompanying people-centred public sector transformation, and is part of the Designing Policy Network, an international community of academic and professional profiles specialising in design for public policy.

Since 2023, she has been working with NTT DATA as Expert Consulting Manager in the area of Digital Government projects, and has participated in the preparation of the report Digitalisation Keys for an Easy Administration.
