Masterclass by Patricia Ruiz Guevara: AI against Disinformation

The Innovation Hub of the Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, hosted last Tuesday 13 May at 17:30 hours, the visit of Patricia Ruiz Guevara, coordinator of AI strategy and disinformation of the Maldita.es Foundation.

In her masterclass "AI against disinformation: how it is used for hoaxes, scams and other bad uses, and how we use it at Maldita.es", she explained how the generalisation of artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, has brought with it a lot of disinformation and other ethically questionable uses.

Organised by the Master's in Artificial Intelligence, in this talk, Patricia Ruiz Guevara also addressed how all this impacts on our real and digital lives, affecting, among other things, search engine results and the information ecosystem.

She also explained how Fundación Maldita.es develops and uses AI tools to support its work in fact-checking, journalism and media literacy in order to face this reality.
