Interior Design and  Architecture are two fundamental disciplines in the art of shaping our environments, but do you know the differences between the two?

Architecture: planning and structural design

An architect is responsible for conceiving, designing and supervising the construction of buildings and structures that are functional, aesthetic, structurally safe, energy efficient and sustainable. In addition, he or she must take into account the urban and cultural context in which the building is inserted.

His work encompasses a macro perspective, from the creation of plans and models to the general layout of the interior spaces, the physical materialisation of the project and the overall relationship of the building, the spaces and their surroundings. His approach seeks coherence between form and function, merging aesthetics with utility.

Interior Design: Functionality and space

On an already created space, the interior designer plans, designs and/or transforms spaces so that they are functional and aesthetically pleasing. His or her work ranges from spatial planning and material selection to furniture selection and project management with the aim of creating environments that meet the needs and preferences of users or clients.

Its main purpose is to optimise the functionality of a space, considering aspects such as spatial planning, selection of materials and finishes, lighting (choice of luminaires, strategic placement and lighting control) and legal building codes and regulations.

One space: two complementary profiles

The synergy between the two profiles in the development of a project manages to create buildings in which all spaces maintain a balance between aesthetics and functionality. The result? Environments that meet practical requirements and leave a lasting impression on those who experience them, improving people's quality of life.
