UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has received the visit of Sara Baliña, Director of the National Office of Foresight and Strategy of the Government of Spain, who gave a lecture and a workshop for the students of the Master in User Experience and Product Design of the University.
Sara Baliña was received by Gonzalo Lama, Secretary General of the University, Delfina Morán, Director of the UX Master's Degree at UDIT and Nicola Vitori, professor of the same Master's Degree.
Organised with the aim of addressing current issues in which design can contribute significant value, Sara Baliña led the session "The future ahead: Mega trends and priorities", in which she addressed several of the areas in which she works on a daily basis, such as the geopolitical context and the global environment, demographic ageing and technological transformation, among others. She was also able to share her ideas on the ecological transition and the new models of production and consumption, as well as the unequal distribution of the population in the territories and the new households.
In this context, the economist highlighted the need to implement changes in the work that designers have been doing in recent decades, stressing the importance of designing and promoting more sustainable ways of life, as well as the development of new conceptual and methodological tools.
In addition to the lecture, Baliña developed a workshop in which students had the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas and knowledge with the professional, thus having the possibility to expose themselves to real problems in the research and practice of design, carrying out projects that promote change towards an ecologically sustainable future.
