Sinestesia, the space of the UDIT Interior Design students at the 60th edition of Casa Decor
A total of 50 students from the Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Interior Design have participated in the space with which UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology is present, for the tenth consecutive year, at Casa Decor, the largest interior design, design, trends and lifestyle platform, which opens its doors to the public from Thursday 3 April until 18 May in the iconic building at Sagasta 33.
For this edition, the students have designed Sinestesia, a space in which the senses blend, transforming the perception of material and space into a unique immersive experience. In it, the students highlight the fusion of sensory stimuli experienced by visitors, such as enveloping lighting, translucent textures that filter light, aromas that evoke sensations and even a lattice of biomaterials, created in the University's Fab-Lab, which invites touch and exploration.
Sinestesia is conceived as an open space that allows for ample circulation and is composed of a circular opening panel finished in sintered stone by Venux, the aforementioned lattice of biomaterials, several areas of curtains with superimposed linen fabrics, a central sculpture and a ceiling in a mirror finish that creates a play of reflection.
The lighting system, for its part, plays an important role, creating an evocative atmosphere, as well as a caustic one caused by a beam of light passing through two crystal drops suspended from the ceiling, and manufactured in the Royal Crystal Factory of La Granja.
The participation in this event by the students of the Degree in Interior Design and the Master's Degree in Interior Design at UDIT is a great opportunity for, firstly, having the opportunity to participate in the design and execution of a real project and, also, for the possibility of interacting with great professionals in the sector at the same time as they can create their own network of contacts.
UDIT and Casa Decor, a decade of collaboration
UDIT's participation in the 60th edition of Casa Decor marks the tenth anniversary of this historic relationship between the University and this prestigious platform. And it is an unbeatable opportunity for students, who not only see their work exhibited on the best possible stage, but also have the chance to connect with other professionals in the sector.
Casa Decor 2025, which opened on Thursday 3 April and will remain open every day until 18 May from 11:00 to 21:00 (including Sundays and public holidays), is being held on this occasion at 33 Sagasta Street.
For this edition, the backdrop is an imposing building of more than 7,000 m², which occupies the entire front of the aforementioned street, from Plaza de Alonso Martínez to Calle Covarrubias. Built between the 19th and 20th centuries by the Bilbao architect Luis de Landecho Jordán y Urríes, it stands out for its imposing façade, crowned by two octagonal towers at the corners and a central trapezoidal tower.
