The Museo Nacional de Antropología in Madrid hosts "中国 Zhōng Guó El País del Centro", a new exhibition created collectively by artists belonging to the Chinese diaspora and whose graphics have been developed by the Maquinista design studio.
This exhibition aims to bring the public closer to the realities of people of Chinese origin who live together in society, being narrated in the first person and with the aim of mutual understanding.
Under this premise, Santos and Xu designed the exhibition's graphics, avoiding the exoticisation of the culture and communicating the idea of collectivity to form a community. The use of the red thread stands out, an important symbol in Chinese history and culture, which represents destiny and the connection between people and becomes an element that crosses and unites the different stories, works, installations and objects on display, inviting reflection and learning.
Founded by Sergio Santos, lecturer in the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area and Valeria Xu, student of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, Maquinista is a studio that offers creative solutions tailored to brands, people and culture, applying strategy, advertising and design.
