Educational robotics competitions not only test students' technical talent, but also encourage curiosity, develop lateral thinking and promote teamwork. Among them, few reach the level of demand of the ASTI Robotics Challenge, whose 9th edition held its regional semi-final on 13 March at the Campus of Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology.

After a competition that pitted more than a hundred students from Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia and Extremadura against each other, the "Alan Turing" team from UDIT qualified for the grand final, which will be held on 10 May in Burgos and in which they will face teams from all the autonomous communities.

Formed by Gabriel Calvo, Iván Herrera, Blas Alexander Siguencia(Degree in Full-Stack Development) and Miguel Canals(Degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence), the team achieved the best classification in the university category. In addition to the qualified team, UDIT was represented by six other teams that still aspire to a place in the final, pending the final list of qualifiers on 24 March.

The ASTI Robotics Challenge promotes STEM talent and challenges participants to develop skills in robotics, programming and strategy through tests such as Sumo and Follow the Lines.

The ASTI Foundation was born in 2017 from the awareness of the important challenges posed by the era of digital transformation, at a time when industry is finding it increasingly difficult to find STEM profiles and with the certainty that the professionals of the future will be key to this transformation.
