The sixth edition of the Game Jam Madrid Crea, an event organised by DEV and the Consejería de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte de la Comunidad de Madrid in collaboration with UDIT, Universidad de Diseño, Innovación y Tecnología, will start on Friday 15th November. This edition invites video game developers, of any level, to create original digital experiences that highlight the cultural, historical, touristic and natural richness of the scenery offered by the Community of Madrid.
During the ten days of the Game Jam, teams and individual participants will be challenged to design and program a videogame that takes as a reference a key aspect of the Region of Madrid. This year's suggested theme is the Community of Madrid as a video game setting, where the most iconic locations, as well as lesser-known corners of the region, will be the backdrop for the creativity of the participants' stories. The games will highlight the cultural and social heritage of Madrid, providing a unique and personal vision of the region.
The event will have online modalities open to participants from all over the country, and an optional on-site option at UDIT's facilities on 15 and 16 November.
In addition, on Friday 15 November at 17:30, there will be an opening ceremony at UDIT's headquarters hosted by DEV and the Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Community of Madrid. Afterwards, there will be a guided tour that will include bus transport from the university to the centre of Madrid to start a walking tour of emblematic locations of the Community of Madrid in films and series. During the following days, the different teams will have to interpret the theme, creating video games that will be uploaded to the Itch.io platform.
