The University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT) held a meeting with representatives of the B Lab Spain Foundation, an organisation that brings together leading companies in positive social and environmental impact.

The meeting was attended by Rosa Pérez, President of UDIT; Juan Cayón, Rector of the University; José Luis Olazagoitia, Vice-Rector for Research; Damián Fernández, Director of Operations; María Tamames, Tendam Sustainability Lab Training Coordinator; and Bárbara Castillo Abdul, Head of Communications at the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Principal Investigator at GITDCom.

On behalf of the B Lab Spain Foundation, Lucas Hunter, Executive Director, and Pilar Prior, B Multiplier and promoter of the B Community in Madrid, took part. During the session, the representatives of B Lab Spain presented the main objectives of the certification, aimed at transforming the way of doing business, establishing sustainability standards and promoting a roadmap towards more transparent and responsible business models. They also shared their international experience in promoting a business culture based on ethics, innovation and positive impact.

With more than 10,000 certified companies in 102 countries, B Corp has established itself as a global benchmark in sectors such as textiles, fashion, communication and innovation. In Spain, the organisation has been promoting this movement for a decade now.

This first contact is part of the interest of the Vice-Rectorate for Research of UDIT to promote a strategic agenda focused on sustainability, transparency and institutional quality, promoting a university model that not only generates knowledge, but also builds bridges with the business community and society.

In this sense, the Vice-Rectorate for Research is working to consolidate an innovation ecosystem oriented towards real impact, strengthening relations with organisations and agents in the environment that share values of responsibility, ethics and social transformation. These types of meetings are essential to move towards a university that is more connected with its environment, that listens, learns and actively collaborates with organisations committed to social and environmental improvement.
