UDIT successfully completes the 5th edition of the Solidarity Design Seminar organised by the University's Graphic Design Department.
In an outstanding display of collaboration and creativity, more than 40 students from the Degrees in Multimedia and Graphic Design and Audiovisual Design and Illustration at UDIT, University of Design and Technology, have joined forces for a full semester to offer their expertise and support to two non-profit organisations in the fifth edition of the Solidarity Design Seminar in which, for several weeks, the students have worked to improve the visual identity, online presence and communication strategies of these NGOs.
The Solidarity Design Seminar, an initiative promoted by UDIT's Graphic Design Department with the aim of fostering social commitment and civic responsibility among its students, has allowed the students to apply their design skills to make a real difference to the participating NGOs.
The first of the participating organisations, "Fundación Querer", is an NGO dedicated to education, research, dissemination and social awareness related to children with special educational needs derived from neurological diseases. The students worked to renew their brand of solidarity socks, "Waves Socks", bringing freshness and dynamism with this rebranding; they also created a new, more accessible and attractive website and established a social media strategy to increase the organisation's visibility and capture the attention of potential customers.
The second selected organisation, "Together Against Childhood Cancer", is an NGO that aims to be there for children diagnosed with the disease and their families. The students focused on improving their brand image, creating a modern and friendly logo that conveys the love and care the organisation has for children suffering from the disease. They also designed and developed a new, more intuitive and functional website, showcasing the organisation's various campaigns and events, as well as managing its social networks, creating visually appealing content and sharing relevant information.
The students' work was supervised by Laura Pere, a student of the Multimedia and Graphic Design Degree, and Sandra Mut Roig, a final year student of the same degree, who provided guidance throughout the process.
This experience not only allowed the students to apply their technical and creative skills, but also allowed them to collaborate with students from other courses and participate in a real and tangible project.
At the end of the Solidarity Design Seminar, both NGOs attended the presentation of the projects at UDIT and expressed their gratitude and satisfaction with the outcome.
This Seminar aims to demonstrate the power of design as a tool to generate positive social impact. The students involved have experienced first-hand how their creativity and knowledge can make a real difference in the community.
