UDIT promotes sustainable design research with Ibero-American creators at Hispanic Fashion Week
The University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT) hosts an academic exchange with Latin American designers as part of the Hispanic Fashion Week.
From 30 June to 4 July 2025, Madrid hosted a new edition of the Hispanic Fashion Week, an international event that brings together professionals, institutions and creators from the Ibero-American sphere. In this context, UDIT positions itself as a pioneering university in the organisation of academic exchanges with Ibero-American designers, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, creativity and international cooperation in the field of design.
UDIT's Design and Creative Industries Campus was the venue for an institutional conference that brought together design leaders from various Hispanic countries, committed to sustainability, textile innovation and shared cultural identity. The activity was attended by the institutional team led by the Vice Rector for Research, José Luis Olazagoitia, together with Karolina Cintrón, Director of Institutional Relations, and the research faculty María Tamames, Alberto Ramos and Montserrat Pichel.
The day began with a collaborative workshop focused on the main challenges and opportunities of sustainable fashion, textile circularity and the generation of knowledge from creative practice. Afterwards, the participants were taken on a guided tour of the university's facilities, with special emphasis on its technological, pedagogical and scientific capabilities, as well as the spaces dedicated to interdisciplinary experimentation.
This academic meeting strengthened inter-institutional relations and positioned UDIT as a strategic actor in the Ibero-American network of sustainable design. It also opened up new lines of future collaboration in teaching, research and transfer between universities, designers and cultural centres in the Spanish-speaking world.
The activity is part of the actions promoted by the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI), as part of its institutional strategy of internationalisation, educational innovation and commitment to social transformation through design.
