UDIT participates in the cultural meeting EQUINOX 2025

Ignacio Valero, director of MASTERLUZ and founding member of APDI, the Professional Association of Lighting Designers of Spain, was in charge of moderating two of the round tables in the official  programme.

Ignacio Valero, director of MASTERLUZ, the Master in Continuing Education in Lighting Design for Architecture and Interior Design of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has participated in EQUINOX 2025, held in Lanzarote between 18 and 19 September 

EQUINOX is a cultural meeting that was born with the vocation of rethinking the relationship of human beings with light and its influence on nature, health, culture and everyday life, an initiative promoted by Paula and Cristina Martínez Abad, both founders of Maraba Studio, as a tribute to their island 

Thus, EQUINOX proposes a more conscious look at how we illuminate spaces and promotes, from art, science, architecture and thought, a collective conversation about the ecological, social and symbolic value of light and darkness 

In this unbeatable setting, Ignacio Valero moderated the round table Rethinking light in an over-lit world:architecture and health, with the participation of Yvonne de Kort, professor and director of the Eindhoven University of Technology; Giulio Antonutto, lighting designer and associate director atArup; Madhis Aliesgari, lighting designer at Lighting Design Collective; and Álvaro Coello, president of APDI, the Professional Association of Lighting Designers. 

In addition, the director of MASTERLUZ also moderated the round table discussion When the night disappears: impacts of excessive artificial light, with the participation of Federico de la Paz, engineer at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias; Juan Antonio Madrid Pérez, Professor of Physiology and Chronobiologist and founder of Kronohealth; Rafael Gallego, lighting designer at Aureolighting; and Ignacio Mola, expert in ecosystems

In addition, Rocío Sancho, director of the Interior Design Area at UDIT, also attended on behalf of the University and MASTERLUZ and had the opportunity to attend different meetings and talks, as well as to connect with professionals from various fields related to light
