UDIT and OPPO renew partnership and train students to participate in the imagine IF Photography Awards 2024
- Students of the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT) received a masterclass by professional photographer Marcos Alberca.
- The students will be able to participate in a photography competition exclusively for them and those who do so with OPPO devices will in turn participate in the global competition.
The smart device brand OPPO organised a photography masterclass on 19 April in collaboration with UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology and content creator Marcos Alberca. This training was given to UDIT students as part of the imagine IF Photography Awards, an annual competition created by the company to promote excellence in mobile photography globally.
Continuing last year's collaboration between UDIT and OPPO, the company has invited UDIT students to participate in a photography competition. In addition, students who compete with OPPO devices will be entered directly into the global imagine IF Photography Awards.
To encourage participation, in addition to organising the masterclass, OPPO has donated devices to the university for distribution to students, facilitating access to the global competition. According to OPPO, "bringing the competition to UDIT students is not only a way to strengthen ties with an institution we have had the pleasure of collaborating with, but also reflects OPPO's commitment to young talent and the development of their creativity".
The competition will be open to all UDIT students of legal age who want to unleash their creativity in the form of smartphone photography. Students will be able to participate in two basic categories: photos taken with an OPPO smartphone and photos taken without an OPPO smartphone. Participants will be able to submit their photographic works in the following sub-categories: Landscape, Portrait, Colours, Unforgettable Moments, Fashion, Snapshot, Light, Travel and Collection.
The winners of the competition will be chosen by a jury composed of two professionals dedicated to artistic design at UDIT, who will make their judgement based on their own professional artistic appreciation, but according to the predefined criteria of photographs taken with or without OPPO devices. Within the OPPO smartphone category, UDIT participants will be eligible for a total of 6 prizes.
On the other hand, in the case of participating in the category without an OPPO smartphone, students will be eligible for a single prize for the best photograph. It should be noted that those students who participate in the competition with an OPPO smartphone will be entered directly into the global competition.
In the words of Gustavo Queipo de Llano Moya, professor at UDIT and jury member of the competition, "our collaboration with OPPO and the opportunities it offers our students are an important incentive for them to develop their passion and put their creative potential into practice. We greatly value and appreciate that such global brands like OPPO are involved with young talents in the field of photography".
A photography masterclass to kick off the event
The collaboration between OPPO and UDIT also offers the possibility of training students so that, in this case, they can learn first-hand the secrets of how to take outstanding photographs with a smartphone. The students of the University of Design, Innovation and Technology were given a photography masterclass by Marcos Alberca, professional photographer and content creator, which inspired them to take part in the competition.
Among other tricks and lessons, Alberca dealt with the evolution of the mobile phone as a photographic resource. In this sense, he showed how a smartphone is capable of offering excellent results with detailed attention to the lighting and the environment of the image to be captured. As Marcos Alberca himself commented, "we have to understand that the mobile phone has advanced so much in recent years that today it serves as the first choice of camera", to which he added, "if we were to investigate the parameters of our smartphone more, we would discover innovative photography techniques and we would adapt our photographs better to the lighting and the scene we have in front of us".
To complete the training, the content creator offered tips on how to position a profile on social networks based on professional photographs and publications with a certain frequency.
