Which baccalaureate do you need to study Illustration?
If you want to start training in Illustration, we tell you what baccalaureate you need to have studied to be able to access the official degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration and what it consists of.
Is it necessary to have previous specific training?
No, if you want to study the Degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration you can do itwithout the need to have studied a specific baccalaureate, you must meet the access requirements set out in art.3 of Royal Decree 412/2014, nor have prior knowledge about aspects such as motion graphics, lettering, typography, posters... All our Degrees start from scratch, so it is not necessary to take a specific type of bachelor's degree that trains you in these areas.
Although it is true that, due to the type of degree, it is recommended to take a bachelor's degree in the arts, you don't have to worry about your previous training as you can make the most of our degrees.
What will you learn in the Official Degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration?
The Degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration at UDIT is an official 4-year degree, in which you will work on Illustration oriented towards graphic, advertising and audiovisual creation.
In the first year you will learn how creative processes take place and how to apply the knowledge acquired in subjects such as the application of colour, photography and illustration in an analogue and digital way.
During the second year, you will work on a series of techniques for graphic and narrative communication and you will be trained in techniques, sketches, photography and typography.
In the third year, you will be trained in the use of software applications for2D and 3D graphics and video. You will apply your knowledge in workshops for real graphic projects (advertising, brochures, publishing, packaging...).
The last course will be the final step for your insertion in the labour market, learning how to create multimedia applications and animations . In addition, you will learn about the art direction of a complex communication or advertising project; how to transform data into visual images and infographics and how to develop an audiovisual branding project.

What will you be able to do?
Depending on where you want to focus your professional career, you will be able to work in different areas or positions. We group them into three main groups: entrepreneurship, audiovisual creator and graphic design .
In entrepreneurship you can work as an illustration or audiovisual creator/artist, a creator of illustrated books, a creator of comics, a creator of urban art and mural painting or textile design, among others.
In audiovisual creation you can work as: multiplatform audiovisual content creator, photographer, 3D modelling and animation, character creator or storyboard creator, among others.
In graphic design you can work in: art direction, editorial design, typographic design or digital products and mobile applications, among others.
Degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration at UDIT
You will be trained in a pioneering degree in the Spanish university specialising in Design, Innovation and Technology in Illustration, graphic, advertising and audiovisual creation.
You will learn with a training based on learning by doing, facing from the first day complex professional projects that will allow you to gain experience and build your portfolio.
Together with a teaching staff with professional and academic rigour, you will develop your career as an audiovisual illustrator and you will be able to join the art direction of a studio, agency or company.
At the University of Design, Innovation and Technology you will be able to live unique experiences meeting great figures of illustration who will present their projects or masterclasses such as the illustrator Chloé Cruchaudet, the workshop The Metamorphosis organised with the School of Art and Design of Oporto ESAD or the presentation of the book Creativity in the advertising narrative, participate in events and competitions such as Ilustrafest, the largest illustration festival in the world . such as Ilustrafest, the largest illustration fair in Madrid organised by UDIT, the International Tourism Forum TURIUM 2023, for which the students designed a mural, the collaboration between El Duende, the creative agency La Más Chula and the brand El Águila, for which the students were able to customise the shop windows of five emblematic bars in the city, or design the cover of "Creatividad en la Narrativa Publicitaria: Strategy, contents and discourses", among others.

Do you want to experience Illustration before September?
At UDIT's Graphic&Audiovisual Camp, you can discover whether graphic design or illustration is your vocation. For two weeks, from 30 June to 11 July, you will learn how to develop as a graphic and audiovisual creator. At the end of the summer camp you will have created a graphic campaign on one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
