Dr. Sandra Menchaca
Presentation
D. in Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Havana with more than ten years of experience in applied research in materials science, polymers and nanostructured systems. Her work has focused on the design, synthesis and characterisation of functional materials, including magnetic nanocomposites, hybrid systems based on nanocellulose and catalytic materials oriented to sustainable processes. He has presented results at international conferences and contributed to scientific publications in the field of advanced materials. In recent years he has focused his research on the development of biocompatible and biodegradable materials for innovative applications, working on obtaining and characterising polymeric films for food packaging, adsorbent hydrogels for water treatment and controlled release macrospheres applied to agriculture. This work integrated synthesis processes, physicochemical analysis, formulation optimisation and performance validation through experimental trials.
His career combines research with extensive teaching in general, inorganic and materials chemistry, together with solid experience in laboratory management. He has led multidisciplinary teams, supervised advanced scientific instrumentation and participated in several R&D projects focused on biomaterials, process optimisation, consolidating a comprehensive view of the complete cycle of functional materials development.
