The Ibero-American Design Biennial 2024 gets underway
- Inaugurated this Tuesday and organised by the DIMAD Foundation, it celebrates its ninth edition with nearly 200 projects from Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
The Ibero-American Design Biennial of DIMAD (Designers' Association of Madrid) has kicked off its ninth edition with an opening ceremony attended by Juan Cayón, Rector of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology.
The BID takes place every two years at the Central de Diseño de Matadero Madrid, a centre for contemporary creation promoted by the Madrid City Council's Department of Culture and Sports, and is the most important event for contemporary Latin American design.
This edition will take place from 8 to 13 October, after which the many activities hosted by the Biennial and the exhibition will continue until 6 January 2024.
The BID is an initiative that allows the public to get closer to the discipline of design and its environment, as well as being a meeting point, on the one hand for reflection and thought and, on the other, for establishing relations between professionals, with companies in the sector and the academic sphere. Year after year it is consolidated as a forum for generating and sharing ideas.
UDIT's commitment to the BID is renewed year after year and, in this edition, it is particularly evident thanks to the numerous student visits that will be organised from the only university specialising in Design, Innovation and Technology in Madrid to the exhibition. Likewise, the presence and collaboration of different members of the university community such as Javier Sanz, President of DIMAD and director of the Product Design Area of the University; Delfina Morán, Director of the Master in User Experience for the Design of Digital Products and Services; the lecturer of the Product Area of UDIT Pedro Cerisola and director of the BID project in its professional aspect or David Pérez Medina, director of the Master in Graphic Design of UDIT and moderator of the round table "Graphic Design: Processes, doubts and certainties".
