The Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area of UDIT closes 2025 with an outstanding national and international projection.

The Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area of UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has closed 2025 as a year of tireless activity and unforgettable experiences. Throughout the year, students and alumni have actively participated in festivals, competitions and top-level meetings, obtaining national and international awards that reflect the quality, diversity and contemporary approach of their projects.

From its own initiatives such as Ilustrafest and Inspirathon to prestigious awards such as the Laus, Young Ones, Pentawards and Selekted Bilbao, the milestones of 2025 demonstrate the university's commitment to education that is connected to industry, culture and the social impact of design. 

  • Ilustrafest brings together more than 30 renowned professionals

The 3rd edition of Ilustrafest, held within the framework of Ilustraweek and with the support of El Duende Magazine, consolidated itself as a benchmark event in the field of illustration by bringing together more than 30 professionals from the sector and nearly 50 young illustrators. The fair was attended by leading national artists, members of professional associations and urban collectives, as well as the active presence of teachers and students from different degrees and master's degrees of the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area of the university, reinforcing the link between academic training and professional practice

Curated by Inmaculada Corcho and co-directed by academic heads of the area, Ilustrafest 2025 also stood out for its international projection, with the participation of universities such as theSchool of Visual Arts in New York, the University of the Arts London and the Akademia Sztuk Pięknych in Poland. The programme included more than 15 masterclasses and workshops given by professional illustrators and hosted a retrospective of Ana Juan's covers for The New Yorker, consolidating the festival as a space for meeting, learning and cultural dissemination around illustration

  • Two exciting editions of Inspirathon 

In 2025, the area also promoted and organised two editions of Inspirathon, the creative marathon aimed at highlighting young talent and the social impact of design. In the first edition, developed in collaboration with L'Oréal Paris and El Duende Magazine , six students from different degrees won prizes for their proposals for coasters inspired by the Stand Up campaign  against street harassment, which stood out for their creativity, conceptual soundness and graphic quality, along with recognition for several finalist projects.

For her part, in the second edition, developed again in collaboration with the aforementioned magazine, Diana Vaquerizo Calero, a student of Degree in Audiovisual Design and Illustration, was selected as the winner of the creative challenge, in which more than 80 students participated, by developing the illustration that has starred on the cover of the special issue of Días de Vino ofEl Duende Magazine . His project, inspired by the world of wine and its link to the city of Madrid, combined visual narrative and personal graphic identity

  • An unforgettable year for Daniel Alcolea 

Daniel Alcolea, , a graduate in Multimedia and Graphic Design, has been one of the outstanding names of 2025 thanks to Paramera, a variable typography created to recover the visual identity of Molina de Aragón, the least populated region in Europe. This project earned him recognition at the Young Ones Awards, the LAUS Awards, GaudeamusPROJECTA and Selekted Bilbao, as well as conveying a message about heritage conservation and the fight against depopulation, while allowing him to live an enriching professional journey full of experiences

In addition, Alcolea was awarded at the Pentawards with his project Cabezonas, a line of special beers that reflects a daring and creative character, thus consolidating his versatility and talent in different areas of design and visual communication

  • Trip to Selekted Bilbao 

At the end of the year, a group of 23 students from the area travelled to Bilbao to attend Selekted 2025, an outstanding creative meeting held on 27 and 28 November, which offered students an inspiring educational experience through conferences given by renowned design and creativity professionals, as well as cultural activities. This initiative reinforced the students' direct contact with the contemporary creative and professional ecosystem

  • Reimagining the Ateneo de Madrid 

The students of the Master's Degree in Illustration were the protagonists of the exhibition ARTE_NEO. Young Illustration, which was held from 24 March to 6 April in the Sala Laffón at the Ateneo de Madrid. In the exhibition, the students presented posters in which they reinterpreted the different spaces of the emblematic Madrid building through contemporary graphics, offering a fresh vision that combined tradition, history and culture with current trends in illustration

  • UDIT's talent sweeps the Laus Awards

In 2025, the talent of the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area has been recognised at the 55th edition of the Laus Awards, held in Barcelona, where students and alumni of the University obtained a total of eight distinctions in one of the most prestigious competitions in the field of graphic design, advertising and audiovisual communication, obtaining two silvers, two bronzes and four In Book mentions. The latter awards mean the inclusion of the winning works in the official catalogue of the Laus Awards 

  • Many more  awards 

This year has been a year of great prizes for the Audiovisual and Graphic Creation Area, with multiple awards for its students and alumni Among the most outstanding, Paulina Abelló Jiménez, Carla Kaubish and David Valeiro won the competition organised by the Madrid City Council and the university with creative proposals inspired by the Puerta de Alcalá, which combined typography, photography and modern and traditional aesthetic references

Other examples of successes throughout the year included the Mexican National Design Award for Arturo Rolando Estrada, the ANFACO Award for Xiang Soto Reznak, first prizes in #VersionaThyssen for Adriana Baena and Rubén Serrano, and the selection of María Paula Barrantes as winner in New Talents of Selekted Bilbao 2025. In addition, Lara Alba was a finalist in the HiiibrandAwards and 16 students were selected to participate in the prestigiousD&Ad New BloodAwards
