Dr. David Rosas takes over the new presidency of the IEC.

On 17 December 2025, the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT) held its last ordinary session of the year at the Technology, Innovation and Applied Sciences campus, marked by a tone of institutional closure and the continuity of the ethical commitment that has guided its work since its creation in April 2025.

The meeting formally welcomed the new president, Dr. David Rosas Espín, whose appointment was elevated by rectoral resolution of 26 November 2025. An established researcher in areas such as artificial intelligence, wearables, sustainability and technological design, Dr. Rosas assumed the presidency in a harmonious transition process, in which the previous leadership of Dr. José Luis Olazagoitia was continued by a profile equally committed to research excellence and the scientific integrity of the institution.

The session included the presentation for evaluation of the project "Gender Assumptions and AI-Assisted Writing in ESP: A Study of UX Writing Practices Among Spanish Product Design Students", by Professor Sumara Suzzette Prince Davidson.

In addition to this project, the Committee has analysed seven other projects over the course of 2025 with the direct participation of nine UDIT researchers.

The REC also agreed to promote a dissemination strategy, using institutional information channels, with the aim of reminding the university community of the existence of formal mechanisms for channelling any concerns or situations related to possible ethical complaints.

In particular, it was emphasised that UDIT has an institutional whistleblowing channel, managed by the Compliance Committee, accessible both to members of the university community and to external parties, and which guarantees confidentiality, traceability and the appropriate treatment of communications in accordance with current regulations. The "Make a complaint" channel is permanently available at the following link: https: //udit.shogunmonitor.com/#/subcategory?cat=f1uSqHo9L1, and is the official channel for receiving and managing this type of communication.

The meeting concluded with the closing words of the year, which highlighted the consolidation of the REC as an essential space to ensure the ethical quality of research and to accompany the academic community in the development of studies aligned with international standards.
