The Textile and Fashion Observatory presents at UDIT the Textile and Fashion Circularity Report 2023/24
UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, hosted the presentation of the Textile and Fashion Circularity Report 2023/24, carried out by the Textile and Fashion Sector Observatory in collaboration with PwC.
Juan Cayón, Rector of UDIT, was in charge of opening the event by welcoming the attendees, followed by the participation of Juan Parés, President of the Textile and Fashion Observatory and Jordi García Brustenga, General Director of Industrial Strategy and SMEs.
The event then began with the keynote speech of the day, in which Ismael Aznar, Environment and Climate Partner at PwC Tax&Legal, presented the 2023/24 Report on Textile and Fashion Circularity, prepared with the aim of addressing the regulatory situation in terms of sustainability and analysing the new legal framework and its impacts on the sector.
During his speech, Aznar guided the audience through a tour based on three main themes: the management of textile waste, the new legislative framework of eco-design and communication to consumers in the field of sustainability and ecological transition. Finally, he presented the results and conclusions of the study carried out on the impacts and perception of sustainability regulations in the textile value chain.
The event continued with the round table 'Recycling Technologies plus use cases', moderated by Salomé Beneyto, Secretary General of the Spanish Intertextile Council and formed by the experts and references of the textile sector Héctor Viniegra, Head of Business Development at TECHNALIA; Diana Cayuela, Director of the INTEXTER-UPC Research Institute; Elena Orgilés, Deputy Director of Advanced Materials and Technologies at INESCOP and Vicente Cambra, Deputy Director General of the R&D&I Area at AITEX.
Finally, José Monzonís, Corporate General Director of the Observatory, followed by Alejandro Dorado, Commissioner for the Circular Economy of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, were in charge of closing the day with speeches on the milestones achieved in the field of the circular economy, as well as on the challenges to be overcome by the companies and consumers that form part of the textile sector.
