On Thursday 11 December, the 17th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU) announced the list of winners of this year's edition, with a total of 55 projects recognised in three categories: Works, Dissemination and Publications and Final Degree Projects

Ensayos Críticos (Critical Essays), a project in which Verónica Meléndez, Director of International Relations and Institutional Accreditation at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, participated, was one of the winners in the Dissemination and Publications category

It is a collection of unpublished texts by teachers and researchers with a clearly prospective character and focused on the theory and critique of architecture. Comprising 12 issues, it offers a broad overview of the different themes that structure and define the current thinking of a large group of researchers

Verónica Meléndez, for her part, has been in charge of writing the fifth issue: Descifrando Euralille. A strategic practice, a paper that opens a reflection on professional practices and working models in design and architecture

The BEAU is a fundamental event in which the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU), the Higher Council of Spanish Architects' Associations (CSCAE) and the Arquia Foundation have selected the proposals, highlighting the existence of researchers capable of anticipating, naming and debating the challenges faced by architecture from a critical perspective in the category of dissemination and publications.

Critical Essays, together with the rest of the prize-winning projects, will be on display until 15 March in Ponferrada, specifically in the Turbine Hall of La Térmica Cultural, located in the aforementioned city of León
