Director of the Official Master's Degree in Product Design.

Trained in industrial design at the Polytechnic School of Seville and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, as well as studies in Design and Communication for Integration and Diversity at the University of Bedfordshire (UK), Mario Fuentes has more than 15 years of international experience in product design, automotive, team leadership and development of innovative solutions. His profile combines a solid creative and technical background, reinforced with a Master in Product Development at Elisava School of Design, postgraduate training in Digital Modelling, a Certificate in Project Management from the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Industriales de Madrid and his current specialisation in Project, Programme and Portfolio Management at IE Business School.

Syllabus

The syllabus of the Master's Degree in Product Design is divided into 60 ECTS credits and lasts one year.

During the master's degree you will have the opportunity to become certified as an expert with Solidworks, both in the basic CSWA-Academic certification and in the advanced CSWP certification, and/or obtain the certificate in digital manufacturing with Fab Academy by the M.I.T. This training will enable you to work in any professional or training Fab Lab.

Admission requires you to meet the corresponding academic profile according to your previous degree and knowledge of the area. In addition, you will have a personal interview with the master's degree management, in which your background, motivation and professional goals will be assessed.

  • The Master's Degree in Product Design at UDIT lasts one academic year. From October to July, 60 ECTS. This period includes both theoretical and practical training, with an intensive focus on the development of real projects in collaboration with companies in the sector.

  • The preferred entry profile for this Master's degree is that of a graduate in Design, in its specialisations, Digital Design, Interactive Product Design, Digital Business Design and Innovation, Design and Creative Technologies, Engineers, Architects and other higher education graduates who wish to specialise in product design.

  • The technical design of a product involves the detailed planning and creation of technical specifications that enable it to be manufactured. This process includes:

    • Technical drawing: creation of accurate and detailed drawings.
    • Material selection: identifying the right materials for the functionality and aesthetics of the product.
    • Prototyping: building functional models for testing and improvement.
    • Testing and validation: testing of prototypes to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Yes, according to the EU's 2020 Employment and the Social Dimension in the Strategy report, one of the "job fields" will be hybrid profiles between Design and Technology.

    The needs of companies support these ideas, as more and more professionals are required who are able to offer consumers functional, technological, safe, attractive and sustainable products.
