Which baccalaureate do you need to study Fashion Design?
If you want to start training in Fashion Design and become a 360º designer, we tell youwhat baccalaureate you have to have studied to be able to access the Official Degree in Fashion Design and what it consists of.
Is it necessary to have previous specific training?
No, if you want to study the Degree in Fashion Design you can do it without the need to have studied a specific baccalaureate, you must meet the entry requirements set out in art.3 of Royal Decree 412/2014, nor have prior knowledge about aspects such as pattern making, cutting, tailoring, fabrics ... All our Bachelor's Degrees start from scratch, so it is not necessary to take a specific type of baccalaureate that trains you in these areas.
Although it is true that, due to the type of degree, it is recommended to take an arts baccalaureate, you do not have to worry about your previous training to make the most of our degrees.
What will you learn in the Official Degree in Fashion Design?
The Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT is an official 4-year degree, in which you will work on all the areas that make up Fashion: design, cutting, tailoring, pattern making, styling, fabrics and photography.
During the first year of your degree, you will acquire an artistic and technical base that will help you to materialise and represent your ideas. You will work on creative research, the concept of identity, colours and textures, shape and volume, as well as the study of work processes from the inspiration for the creation of a collection to its serial development in an industrial process.
During the second year, you will learn the digital tools for the representation of fashion projects and you will deepen your knowledge of pattern making, technology and tailoring.
In the third year, you will immerse yourself in the creation of your own collection that culminates in a fashion show within the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week calendar. You will learn theShima Seiki technology in great demand in the industry, marketing, fashion photography and you will be able to demonstrate your talent thanks to professional internships in companies.
The last course will be the final step for your insertion in the job market by creating and developing your personal brand, as well as acquiring the personal and corporate communication skills for your success.

What will you be able to do?
You will be able to work in three main areas: design, management and consultancy or communication and research.
In design you can work as: fashion designer, accessories designer, textile designer, costume designer, stylist (celebrities, television, advertising, ecommerce), fashion & retail buyer, fabric developer or pattern designer, among others.
In management and consultancy you will be able to work in areas and positions such as: trend consultant, creative director, product manager, quality controller, sustainability controller or digital fashion design expert, among others.
In communication and research you will be able to work in positions such as: visual merchandiser, disseminator, materials researcher, image consultant or trend and data analyst, among others.
Degree in Fashion Design at UDIT
You will be trained at the leading university in higher education in Fashion Design, being the first to offer this university degree in Spain 15 years ago and the centre with the highest number of graduates working.
Our classrooms have trained personalities of the stature of Paloma Suárez, founder of the Paloma Suárez brand and considered one of the young talents of Spanish fashion, Lucía de Miguel, founder of the Lucía de Miguel Design brand of wedding dresses or Verónica García Bolós, founder and director of the Kika Fidalgo brand, among others.
Our students participate in national and international competitions, such as Amara Caruncho, winner of the Allianz EGO 2023 Award, or events that enrich their experience, for example Carla García Faya, Mary Carmen Mata and Laura Martín García, who exhibited three designs belonging to the collection "Algún Lugar en el Tiempo" at the Hotel Thompson Madrid , or Sofía Labrador, who designed a personalised jacket for the Delegate of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Madrid City Council, Marta Rivera de la Cruz.
At the University of Design, Innovation and Technology you can live unique experiences by participating in events and fashion shows such as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFW), Allianz EGO or MOMAD, among others. In fact, we are the only university that has its own fashion show, created by the students, at the most important fashion event in the country, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Do you want to experience fashion before September?
At UDIT's Fashion Camp, you can find out if fashion is your vocation. For two weeks, from 30 June to 11 July, you will enjoy workshops and activities in which you can explore, investigate and express your creativity by becoming aware of textures, shapes, volumes, colours, fabrics and fashion trends. On the last day you will be able to present your pieces.
