Referentum Talks will bring together at UDIT some of the best professionals in graphic design and visual culture in Spain in its 2024 edition.

UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, will host on 20 and 21 November the Referentum Talks cycle of conferences, the great annual event of graphic design and visual culture that, for the fourth consecutive year, is curated by the designer José Bardera and promoted by the University itself.

In this edition, Referentum Talks will feature a panel of conferences given by renowned creatives such as Sonia Sánchez, Verónica Grech and Lara Lussheimer and the design studios Hey, Fondo Supper Club and Mendesaltaren.

The event, open to all audiences and free of charge, will be held in the afternoon from 16:45 h. to 20:00 h. on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November at the UDIT auditorium located at Avenida de Alfonso XIII, 97 in Madrid.

Wednesday 20 November

16.45 - Presentation of the event

17.00 h. to 17.45 h. Lara Lussheimer, Creative and Art Direction. In addition to her time at Fabrica, where she directed a campaign for Benetton, she has worked for agencies such as Codea Studio with clients such as Puma, while exploring and developing projects around visual metaphor and photography.

18.00 h. to 18.45 h. Fondo Supper Club, a creative studio founded by Nora Silva, Sara Oldenburg, Belén Cabello and Marta Moya, which combines food design and art in the development of its projects. Using gastronomy as a language and common denominator between cultures, Fondo's multidisciplinary team has worked with renowned brands such as Bimba y Lola, Carolina Herrera and Loewe, promoting their new products and collections through the creation of unique events and experiences.

19.00 h. to 19.45 h. Sonia Sánchez, Graphic designer who has developed editorial design, visual identity and art direction projects for different cultural and publishing institutions such as AECID, Biblioteca Nacional, Fundación Mapfre, Fundación Telefónica, MoMA, Musée d'Orsay, Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Museo Cristóbal Balenciaga, Museo Picasso Málaga, Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Phaidon, among others.

17.00 h. to 17.45 h. Mendesaltaren, Digital Product & Branding Boutique. The studio that was born in 2017 from the work of its founding partners, André Mendes and Danny Saltaren, with the purpose of defining digital products with an excellent visual finish. It is characterised by the rebelliousness of opposing the established. They have worked for clients such as Opticalia, Intermundial, Luzia and ioBuilders.

18.00 h. to 18.45 h. Verónica Grech, illustrator and creative. She stands out for her use of colour, form and space in her work. She has worked for clients such as The Telegraph (UK), Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The New York Observer, Vogue, Rebook and Pull&Bear, among others.

7.00 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. Verónica Fuertes, founder and creative director of HEY, the Barcelona-based studio specialised in developing creative strategies and visual languages for clients from all over the world, including ISDIN, Rainbow Wool, Balvi Chess and Casa Montjuïc. Verónica has also been a member of the AGI (Association Graphique International) since 2024.

Fourth edition of a cycle of conferences with the best art directors, creatives, graphic designers and illustrators.

These conferences are held annually with the aim of sharing knowledge and exploring and navigating the past, present and future of graphic design and visual culture, also seeking to showcase the graphic excellence that surrounds contemporary society.

Throughout its three previous editions, Referentum Talks has been attended by professionals from firms and studios as important as Pentagram, Porto Rocha, Paseo, Arauna, LLYC, Noho, Folch and Base.

Referentum Talks has gathered around 300 attendees in each of its three editions.

The University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT) held the workshop "Neuro-environments: Redesign your space to think and learn better", given by Ivette Caldelas and Alejandro Martínez, researchers from the NEURO_COLAB group, at the Base International School. The session inaugurated the series "Neuro-Environments: Educate, Communicate and Design for a healthy brain", an initiative jointly organised by the NEURO_COLAB and GITDcom groups within the Science Week Madrid 2025.
