The TFM of Arturo Rolando Estrada, Master in Graphic Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, has been very well received not only by teachers and colleagues, but also by the object of his study: Metro de Monterrey

This young Mexican designer, who only a few months ago won Mexico's National Design Award, has always had a clear purpose: to study mobility and design applied to public transport services. Thus, his field of research ranges from signage, typography and pictograms to the integral user experience in different metro systems in Europe: Madrid, Milan, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao

When it came to writing his TFM, Arturo Rolando Estrada set himself the goal of taking the Monterrey Metro to an international level, comparable to benchmarks such as New York, Chicago, London, Milan and Madrid

His work proposes a comprehensive redesign of the brand and its signage, based on the principles of universal, practical and timeless design. It includes a wayfinding system adaptable to physical and digital formats, a new visual identity for the metro and even the conceptual development of carriages, signage, maps with the new lines and merchandising products

A proposal that has been recognised by the Monterrey Metro itself, which has invited the young designer to develop the commemorative image for its 35th anniversary, coinciding with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, for which Monterrey will be the official host city

This new work will include a special series of six posters, merchandising pieces and graphic applications that will be implemented in all the stations and lines of the system, to later be integrated into the Metrorrey brand regeneration process, marking the beginning of a new stage for mobility in the city
