Eighty-three teams from 19 different countries, made up of school and university students and their respective tutors, have taken part in the 1st edition of the International Design the Future 2023 Competition.

Graduates in Multimedia and Graphic Design at UDIT, University of Design, Innovation and Technology, the four alumni have won the highest distinction in this competition sponsored by UNESCO as part of the UNESCO - UNITRAIN Youth Competence Development project.

The awards obtained with these projects were gold for Irene Marcos and her work "0.007%"; second place for Sara Muñoz with "CLIC" and two bronzes thanks to the projects of Alba Castro García with "Un gusto conocerte" and Marina Pérez Corral with "Piaceri Vegani".

These projects, for their part, address a wide variety of topics such as, for example, environmental awareness with "0.007%", inclusive make-up through "CLIC", social integration of people with Down's Syndrome thanks to the project "Un gusto conocerte" or the promotion of Italian, vegan and sustainable coffee through "Piaceri Vegani".

The students were guided and supported in their projects by David Pérez Medina, director of the Master's Degree in Graphic Design, and Vanessa García, teacher of the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design at the University.

A new prize created to promote sustainability

UNESCO launched these design awards in September last year, within the framework of the UNESCO-UNITRAIN Youth Skills Development Project.

Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students worldwide, the aim of the awards is to solicit innovative and creative work from young people around the world to raise awareness of the important role of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
